How to Make the “I Love the Smiths” AI Video From Photos

Step by step: choose your photos and roles, make the 500 Days of Summer elevator video with AI, then caption and post it with sound. Photo tips, timing and costs included.

The scene every video follows: 20 seconds with sound. Yours shows the faces from your photos.

You can put yourself, or yourself and someone else, into the “I love the Smiths” elevator scene without filming anything. This guide walks through the whole process on I Love the Smiths AI, from choosing photos to posting.

What you need

  • One photo of yourself. That’s enough: our AI-generated co-star plays the other person.
  • Optional: a photo of the other person. Your partner, crush or friend, with their agreement.
  • An email address for the private download link.
  • About 5–15 minutes of waiting after payment.

No app, no account, no elevator and no prompt.

Step 1: Pick the right photos

The camera stays close on two faces for the whole 20 seconds, so the face matters more than anything else.

Works wellAvoid
One adult alone in the frameGroup photos, another person in shot
Face sharp and looking at the cameraSunglasses, masks, hats, hair over the face
Chest-up or waist-up, shoulders visibleSide profiles, very dark or blurry photos
Even daylight or soft indoor lightHeavy beauty filters, stickers, cartoon styles
The top you want to wear in the videoCelebrities, minors, anyone who hasn’t agreed

Use two separate photos with one person each. A single photo of you together does not work.

Step 2: Choose who you play

There are two roles, and either works for any adult:

  • The one in headphones stands on the left, misses the first line and takes the headphones off.
  • The one who says it stands on the right and says “I love the Smiths”, then “You have good taste in music”.

With two photos, your photo takes the role you picked and the second photo takes the other one. Without a second photo, our AI co-star plays the other role. The price is the same either way.

Step 3: Confirm, add your email and pay

Tick the box confirming the photos show you or adults who agreed, enter your email and choose a pack: 1 video for $12.99, 3 for $32.49 or 10 for $90.99. Payment is one-time, handled by Dodo Payments, and unused credits never expire.

Step 4: Wait a few minutes

Your video starts as soon as payment is confirmed and is usually ready in 5–15 minutes. You can close the page; we email you when it is ready. If a generation fails, the credit goes back to your order automatically and you can try again.

Step 5: Check it with sound

Watch the result with sound on. Look at:

  • both faces when they turn toward each other,
  • the mouths on “I love the Smiths” and “You have good taste in music”,
  • the headphones coming off.

AI can still change small details. If a face drifts, a sharper, more front-facing photo usually helps.

Step 6: Caption and post

You get a 20-second, landscape 16:9, 720p MP4 with sound and no watermark. TikTok, Reels and Shorts all accept landscape video. Popular captions:

  • “I said I love the Smiths”
  • “How we met (AI version)”
  • “POV: you finally take your headphones off”

If you want it vertical, place it on a vertical background in the app’s own editor and add your caption above. Label it as AI-made where a platform asks.
